Gutiz has a rare, specific kind of reputation in this town: the place you go when you don't want to think about it, because you already know it's going to be good. The eggs benedict is the standing order, and it earns that spot on the strength of consistency as much as flavor. It shows up the same way every time, poached just right, sauce balanced instead of drowning the plate, the kind of dish that doesn't need reinvention because the kitchen already found the right version of it.

The pear drink is the other reason to come back. It's the sort of detail that separates a breakfast spot from a genuinely good one, a house drink that's actually worth ordering on its own rather than just filling the glass. It's distinctive in a way that's hard to find elsewhere in Taos, and it pairs easily with the Latin-French menu running underneath everything else here.

What Gutiz does better than almost anywhere is show up. Reliable, consistent, very good, not the flashiest plate in town but exactly what you want it to be every single time you sit down.
