Fine dining, Real Bistro feel
written by JRRansom, August 15, 2010
I went to Downtown Bistro on a Monday night in early August. This place has a seven page list of fine wines. I started with Terra Rosa Malbec from Argentina- medium body full bodied Cabernet, soft tannins and very easy to drink. I ordered tonight's special, the bacon wrapped pork filets with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and a terragon cream sauce. This was exceptionally good. For one thing, I really liked the mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The accompanying veg was zucchini, green beans and little tomatoes lightly cooked and very tasty. The pork filets were good and the terragon sauce outstanding. The atmosphere is quite relaxing and has a nice Euro-bistro feel, for a small southwest town, but indicative of Taos' weird global sort of appeal. The wait staff is very efficient, easy and gentle. Fine dining at Downtown Bistro gets my recommendation again and again.
